What is T55 Products?
T55 Products is the new plastics division
of Overland Models, Inc. OMI has been in business since 1976 and we
have taken note from our customers that we should start a plastics
line of products to deliver the same high-quality as our brass models
with a lower cost through the use of high-grade injection molded
plastic. In 2004 we began seriously exploring the plastics division
and in the spring of 2005 we have unveiled the new T55 Products.
Our first delivery will be the General Electric Evolution Series
model from Union Pacific and BNSF due in late 2005.
When and what will be the first product from T55 Products?
The General
Electric Evolution Series locomotives will be our first. They will be
ES44DC units painted and detailed for the BNSF Heritage II scheme and
the new BNSF Railway schemes as well as the Union Pacific C45ACCTE (ES44AC)
locomotives detailed with the Flag scheme with either red or the new
yellow sill stripe scheme. Delivery is expected in late 2005.
How is Overland Models related to T55 Products?
Overland Models is the parent company of T55 Products. T55
and Overland Models are both owned by Brian and Missy Marsh. Overland
Models and T55 Products currently share the same employees and operate
out of our offices in Muncie, IN.
Can I visit T55 Products office location?
Although we do advertise our street address there is nothing on display
or for sale at this time. We have explored the possibility of building
a new office/ warehouse facility in Muncie that would also house a hobby
shop/ showroom. This is currently only in the dream stage and as dreams
turn into plans and reality we will be sure to provide timely updates.
Why are T55 Products licensed?
Both T55 Products and its parent, Overland Models, greatly value
our relationships with the prototype manufacturers that create the designs
and also the railroads that both purchase and decorate the equipment.
We firmly believe that the design and paint scheme add value to our product.
Imagine how lifeless our model railroads would be with generic designs
and lifeless paint schemes.

What if I don’t want to purchase a model with DCC and sound?
T55 Products initial announcement is for DCC and sound only. However,
we have received a large number of communications from customers requesting
non-DCC/ non-sound locomotives. Due to this response we will be soon
offering a separate small number of units with simplified electronics
with lights only. Stay tuned for details later this summer.
What type of motor will be used in the T55 models?
A Japanese Canon motor with dual flywheels will be installed in all
T55 models.
How can I become a T55 Products Dealer?
T55 Products is looking for new dealers to carry our product line.
Please contact info@overlandmodels.com, or call Brian Marsh at 765.289.4257
ext 107.
How did we select the name T55 Products?
In the Fall of 2004 we began our search for a name for our new plastics
division. Just after a hobby show Mr. Marsh traveled to Texas. While
visiting with BNSF and UP he was taken to the famous T55 in Ft Worth,
TX. After discussing the visit with Mrs. Marsh, they both decided that
T55 should be the name of the plastics division. The T55 logo
was created in honor of the famous T55. For more information, please
see the History page.
How can I order a T55 model?
We prefer that you contact an authorized T55 Products dealer. However,
should you wish to purchase the model direct from T55 Products they
can be ordered at the full retail price from our showroom. A 10% non-refundable/
non-transferable deposit (or a minimum of $25.00) will be required at
the time the order is placed. The deposit is required to confirm your
commitment to the product order.
Some dealers may also require/ or be required to place a deposit for their orders based on their business history with Overland Models, Inc and/ or T55 Products.
Can I order direct from T55 Products?
Our preference has always been to support our dealer network. Dealers
often provide a better price and more importantly provide more personalized
service that you may require. However, you may also order direct from
T55 Products via our online showroom or by phone.
Tell me more about the Digitrax DCC/ DC board installed in the T
55 Products models.
Our DCC capable models will feature an exclusive
Digitrax Series 3 decoder with patented technology for seamless DC/DCC
operation mode switching. This means that the DCC equipped model will
function on either a DCC layout or a DC layout without extra configuration.
Here are some features of our DCC board:
- Trouble free operation on both traditional Direct Current (DC) controlled layouts and Digital Command Control (DCC) layouts.
- Full function control of front and rear headlights, ditch lights (if equipped), and other lighting effects (if equipped)
- Smooth motor operation with 128 step speed control
- 2 and 4 digit addressing capability
- Interoperable with other Digital Command Control Systems
Equipped with all Digitrax Series 3 premium decoder features.
What if I experience problems with my T55 Products model?
Please first contact your T55 Products Dealer for assistance in
handling your particular situation. Our Dealer network is in place to
serve the retail customers and therefore should be your first course
of action. The T55 Dealer should contact T55 Products with
any service issues they cannot correct at their facility. We will then
assist the dealer or request that the model be returned and we will provide
a required Return Authorization Number (RAN). Models returned without
the RAN clearly marked on the outside of the box will be refused and
returned to the shipper.
What if I have problems related to the DCC/ DC board?
Digitrax is providing all of our DCC/ DC support. If you have evaluated
the problem and have ruled out all other options you will need to contact
the Digitrax Customer Service Dept. Contact information will be provided
online after our first products are released later this year.
I don't have a DCC controlled layout. Will my OMI DCC equipped model
run on my track?
Yes. Due to the exclusive DC/DCC operations mode switching technology
that Digitrax has developed for T55 Products and Overland Models
Inc., there is a seamless transition between DC and DCC operation modes
when used on both DCC controlled and DC controlled layouts. No extra
configuration is necessary.
On the product listing the model I am interested in purchasing is listed
as a future model, how do I go about ordering the model?
Please contact your T55 Products Dealer to have them order the
model(s) you would like to have. Upon receipt of the models from our
builder T55 will issue a pick-up notice indicating that we have
received the model and payment will be due at that time.
If you choose to order the model direct from T55 Products, the notice will be e-mailed or mailed directly to you requesting final payment, less the non-refundable/ non-transferable deposit that was placed to confirm your order. Upon receipt of payment or approval from your credit card the model will promptly be shipped directly to the address you have provided.
What does the delivery date mean on the product listing?
This is simply for the dealer and customer to gauge when the model is
expected to arrive. This date is not firm as we are always subject to
production and shipping delays that are unforeseen. This information
is updated periodically to provide you with the most up-to-date information.
We cannot be held responsible for not being able to deliver models that
may have been planned for gifts expected by a previously advertised date.
The quality of the model is our first and primary concern, followed by
the planned date of delivery.
My dealer has placed a reservation and the paperwork indicates they
have a firm reservation. What does that mean?
When we set the production numbers we take reservations up to and past
the planned number of units. For example we may plan 1,000 units of a
particular model and we have received requests for 1,250 units. Of those
1,250 orders, the first 1,000 reservations will receive firm reservations
indicating they are assured a delivery (unless models are somehow damaged
beyond repair in shipping) of the requested units…while 250 will
receive notices that the models have arrived but they are listed as stand-by.
Dealers should reconfirm their interest and if we receive any cancellations
we will contact the dealer based on the date of the reservation. Customers
on stand by will be served in order of the date the reservation was received
beginning with the oldest reservation and working through to the most
recent order.
